Export House • Handcrafted In India

About us

We make the objects your table is remembered for.

The Table Story is a handcrafted home and lifestyle brand from India — manufacturer, exporter and, above all, a workshop.

A brand built by makers, not marketers.

The Table Story is the retail face of KGN Wooden Impex, a manufacturing and export house working in wood. That heritage is the whole point: we aren't sourcing someone else's catalogue and putting a label on it. Every piece on this site is made on a line we run.

It means we can be honest about what a piece is made of — solid, seasoned hardwood rather than veneer or composite, with a food-safe finish built up in coats rather than a printed film. It also means we can make one piece or five thousand to the same standard.

Our design language is deliberately restrained: clean silhouettes, warm natural tones, and one moment of decoration per piece. Heritage motifs — peacocks, elephants, blossoms drawn from Indian miniature painting — sit alongside plain turned wood, because a good table holds both.

The workshop

Where it starts

Timber is selected board by board, seasoned, then turned and carved on our own floor. Every profile, edge and joint is worked by hand before it reaches the finishing line.

The finish

The part that takes longest

Artwork is applied by hand and sealed under protective coats. Edges are sanded until they feel soft. A piece is only finished when it passes a touch test, not a look test.

The table

Where it belongs

We design for real use — breakfast trays, cheese boards, Diwali gifting, hotel service. Beautiful objects that don't ask to be treated carefully.
